Chasing Hamburg

Polar Bear Club

Polar Bear Club- “Chasing Hamburg”
released September 8th, 2009 on Bridge Nine Records

Described as “post-hardcore” (whatever that means) by Alternative Press and they’ve also been named as the most anticipated band of 2009 by AP. All that aside, “See The Wind” starts out with distorted guitars and takes on a feel similar to Rise Against and it seems stripped down. “Living Saints” has more of a tempo at the start and a bit of a emo feel to it in the middle. “Light Of Local Eyes” has the better feel to it which definitely sounds like a crossbreed of punk and hardcore. A decent CD but more towards the melodic spectrum of hardcore with less emphasis on grit and more emphasis on melody. Overall, their music is has a similar feel to Rise Against, The Weakerthans and Avail.
