Chancha Via Circuito is the pseudonym of Argentinean producer Pedro Canale, also known as Verdi Kiri (acoustic folk) and Universildo (experimental, ambient acoustic). It is under the guise of Chancha Via Circuito that he electronically explores and melds differing yet related cultures. The influences of Mexican Sonidero, reggae, Colombian cumbia and cumbia villera Argentina seep through as he molds music like playdoe, leaving his organic, human imprint on an electronic-acoustic hybrid. And to ensure we’re well grounded he fills the atmosphere with sounds of the forest and drifting acapellas from a variety of distant origins (listen for the Ramones sample in track 9). The whole album is a mid to downtempo, some tracks comparable to the European chill & downtempo scene. Others are more party oriented (Track 4, 8). Latin vocals on tracks 2, 3, 4, 8, 10.
As ZZK puts it Rodante “is a collection of cumbia songs ranging in nature from introspective (at the edge of a shaman-style trip) to festive, as in a crazy journey on a runaway train. Striking quite a precise balance, certain rhythms seem to have traveled all the way from the country’s plateaus to Greater Buenos Aires to dive into the hectic pace of city life, the contemplation of laziness, and the squeaking of joints underneath warm muscles. Pedro’s creation taps into his afro-dance background and his exploration of IDM. A lover of all things dance, his album includes remixes (Con la Misma Moneda, Zorzal, Día Libre) and contributions by people coming from all different walks of life (Jahdan Blackmoore, Princesa, Rancho MC, Poeta Inka, and Kumbha Kethu), with melodies that bring dance and trance together and create scenarios as festive as they are respectful.”
