Lost In Society- Eastern Empire
released January 13,2010 on Aeria Records

New album from this band from Asbury Park, NJ. The press release describes them as angsty punk for fans of bands such as Against Me!, Rise Against and AFI. Track 1 has hooks that are reminiscent of Pennywise and early AFI, full of sped-up guitar work and a time signature that seems fairly competent. Fast, sing-along punk. Track 4 starts out slow and moody, building up into something that you could sing along to, reminiscent of Anti-Flag with a slight emo feel. Track 9 is fast and catchy and seems to capture the best of the band’s spirit using the influences of A-F and Against Me!. A bit more melodic than usual but it doesn’t hurt much in this case. Overall, it sounds like a typical melodic punk release. It stands out just a bit because there’s more melody than usual. Worth checking out but otherwise, I don’t think it’s anything new under the sun. Fast, catchy melodic punk that won’t disappoint fans of such.
