Tarlton’s debut, Evergreens, is quite a bit different from the Papa Theses Ep that came out last summer. So much so that I had to check to make sure it was the same artist. The Papa Theses Ep was beat driven electronica that had an interesting new sound. Evergreens, on the other hand, is a major shift and is more like mellow emo rock with electronica hints. While I am disappointed that the album doesn’t have the same sound as previous works, it is still a pretty good listen.
