Color Your Life

Twin Sister

Long Island, NY based dreamy pop with female vocals. Song 3, Milk & Honey, is hypnotic and reminds me a quite a bit of Pram. Song 4, All Around and Away We Go, is a soft disco trip around the bedroom. Try any, really good.

Lush, layered acoustic guitars build a psychedelic haze to get lost in. A nice mix of wandering instrumentals and pretty sung melodies. Try 1, 5 is very pretty, 7 has great sunny male/female harmonies.

Apparently this seems to be some sort of EP featuring tracks from their new album “Release Me”  - and I just cannot WAIT for the full length. Largely produced by Mark Ronson this is energetic 60s girl group pop. Swoon swoon swoon. “He’s Not a Boy” is like the greatest song that Dressy Bessy never sung. RIYL Dressy Bessy, The Pipettes

More upbeat than her previous releases. Sweet, exuberant dancey pop that really grew on me. RPM crossover. RIYL Kylie Minogue, Annie
Recommended tracks #4, 8, 11. #13 is a Madonna cover.

Look at her! Pipecleaners on her head?! This girl’s wackier than Lady GaGa!

Destroyer of the Void

Blitzen Trapper

Blitzen Trapper’s 5th full length album feels like it’s right out of the 70s. The first track is a prog rock tune that wears it Queen influences on it’s sleeves, but after that the album is mostly pleasant folky rock. Try 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 10

Known for mixing genres, Kennedy is strongly jazz-based here, with elements of classical (especially in the strings), Boy George on voice on trk 2, and trk 7 is rockin’ jazz/fusion, heavy on drums and Hammond organ. Play any!

Nederlands Blazers Ensembles–IK!

review by Laima
Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

The ensemble is recognized for its theatrical musical performances and wide range of musical repertoire–African, Middle Eastern, Italian traditionals, classical, pop music among some genres. This is a live concert/DVD at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam on Jan. 1, 2010. Lots of clapping leading into the songs, so cue up to avoid it. Some songs suitable for world programming (trks 4, 6, 17 especially)
