Into The Great Wide Yonder

Trentmoller

review by justintime

Trentmoller’s second album, Into The Great Wide Yonder, takes a different path from his debut, Last Resort.  Last Resort was a solid ambient album where here, his music is more of a mix of genres.  Some tracks have a cabaret sound, while others have an electro, ambient rock sound.  I’m reminded of Angelo Badalamenti on the track Even Though You’re With Another Girl and Brian Eno on Past The Beginning Of The End.  While some might consider this album a “sophomore slump”, it seems Trentmoller is spreading his wings a bit and trying out different electronic styles.  Some tracks work, some don’t.  Either way, this is a pretty good album that’s worth investigating.
