The Black Keys

review by theengineear

Blues, Raw Gee-tar, and some learned tricks: The Black Keys are back on track, which is probably enough for most to give it a listen (rawkin’)

The Black Keys, one of my favorite bands, has reverted back to what they do best, bluesy rock.  No Dangermouse, No Indie Pop, No hazy electronics.

This is NOT to say this album lacks in catchy licks.  In fact, tracks like “Everlasting Love”, the catchiest track on the album, will but a spell on you.  Nothing else need be said, this album rocks, it’s got everything you love about the Black Keys and more.  In fact, the only thing I don’t like from the album is the kitschy album art, even if it is satirical, it’s overdone, at best.

If you’re new to the Black Keys, they are–should be without exception–a raw, bluesy duo influenced by traditional blues, garage rock, and some psych influences.  They consist of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney.

Tracks you’ll love: 1, 3, 5, 10, 12, 14 (all?)
