The Judas Syndrome- Underneath Blood Skies
independently released April 20, 2010
The Judas Syndrome is described as a band that seeks to bring back what they call the truest form of thrash metal. They are made up of veteran musicians from the NY Metal/Hardcore scene and come from bands such as Afflitus, Stifling Neglect and Irate. “Si Vis Pacem…Para Bellum” is very ambient at first and it’s similar in style to the intro to “Electric Eye” by Judas Priest, eventually giving way to well-timed thrash drumming with a slight hardcore bent to it. “The Inception Of Sodom” is slightly distorted and full of a decent thrash drums/guitars mated to a time signature full of hardcore breakdowns in-between. “Underneath Blood Skies” is one of the stronger tracks, showcasing the talents of Chris Oblivion and Ian “Kunki” Syndrome. “The Aftermath” is another great track, short but full of ambience. In conclusion, this album starts off on a slow note, peaks in the middle and then flattens out towards the end. They’ve got a good handle on instrumentation and I would love to see them develop their chops more, expanding on what they have going in the title track. There’s an obvious old-school influence mated to modern thrash metal. Check out this album.
