Daughters- “Daughters”
released March 9, 2010 added to WRUV August 4, 2010
This is the third studio album from Daughters, described as an experimental/noise rock band from Providence, R.I. Technically, the band is down to only two members but has intentions to continue recording as a two-piece. “The Virgin” starts things off with loud, discordant drums followed by droning guitar. It has some grind influence as well. In my opinion, the tracks that interest me the most include “The Hit” (lots of melodic noise with an emphasis on drums), “Our Queens(One is Many, Many Are One)” (well-defined time signature that breaks at 1:38 in with male vocals before digging right back into the noise) and “The Unattractive Portable Head”. It’s difficult to think of any bands have have a similar sound. It’s certainly an interesting album though that leans more on the experimentation with different guitar/bass and drum setups. Check it out.
