Listening to Rusty Belle is like meeting someone on a porch and sharing a cigarette and a story. It’s like listening hard to their story because you are worried you might not hear one like it again… because you won’t. Being visited by a past for a moment and soaking it in so as not to lose, waking up from a dream and willing yourself back into it. Rusty Belle has a pleasant sound. It is totally listenable and pleasing. An acoustic duo accompanied by an accordian and a steel rag guitar. While contrived, there is something totally raw about their sound. It sounds like really great street music, like if Local Native, Beirut and the Weepies morphed into one super band.
