The latest from Swedish producer johan Agebjorn is Casablanca Nights. Once again the title track has nothing to do with the rest of the album which is mostly Synth Pop and Synth Dance with smooth vocals from various female vocalists. There are some slippery Euro Disco accents as well. The album starts to wind down as it moves along adding an element of melancholy to the album. Much like a night out, things start out with high hopes and high energy. But as the evening progresses, you start to tire and become more comtemplative, perhaps remembering a lost love as leave the club alone. The album’s evolution is what hooks you in allowing you to create a story to match the music as compared to an album that is just a Synth Pop onslaught. Very nice.
