review by ttintleTen piece ensemble formed in 2008 in Vancouver, B.C. to perform an Arabic repertoire. Emad Armoush(vox) gives a solidly authentic sound to these pieces which effectively combine bi-cultural instrumentation(oud, etc. with bass, tpt & reeds) and musical practice. It begins & ends w/call & response singing of Arabic melodies w/a modern free improv to create a beautiful vanguard hybrid music. EXCELLENT
