Piramida, the title for Efterklang’s fourth studio album, is the name of an abandoned mining community located on an island in the waters between Norway and the North Pole. The foundation of this album is a library of collected sounds that the band recorded on a visit to the ghost town in 2011. Using the abandoned industrial space as a backdrop, Efterklang layered the manipulated field recordings with violins, drums, brass, piano and lead singer Casper Clausen’s vocals which switch easily between baritone and gentle falsetto.
