Shifty Adventures In Nookie Wood

John Cale

review by jklotter

This album may not be the hottest indie album that I have heard recently, but it is also not too shabby for a 70 year old dude.  Former Velvet Underground member John Cale does not loose his edge with age and has picked up a few guitar effects and production tricks along the way.  This is an experimental rock album in the 1960-1980’s sense of experimental, big deep 80’s vocals and odd guitar sounds and random noises.  Solid and slightly overdone production and simple vocals make this album feel like what a disappointing 1989 Joy Division album might have been.
