What you have here are lots of beautiful extended-play versions of the songs heard on the previous year’s “Revelator.” The previous album showed up on several best-of blues lists–with crossover NPR appeal–and so here you have more of something awesome. It is a concert album, and therefore that three-minute song gets stretched into an eight-minute song with the help of five minutes of instrumental concert-type jams. It’s great if you like it but could be seen as going on too long for others. If that’s you, Revelator is the better album. Either way, you can’t go too wrong.
