Nikolain Kapustin was known as a jazz pianist in the 1950’s and 60’s, but wanted to compose classical music with jazz elements. Variable mix, some pieces highly lyrical, others less so, but all interesting.

Some of Schubert’s chamber works, including the only one for the short-lived instrument arpeggione (guitar/cello)–quite lovely. Play all! Jaime Laredo and Sharon Robinson of Vermont Symphony Orchestra perform her along with Jospeh Kalichstein.
